Now just 8 miles from the International dateline the British Ice Challenger team have made incredible progress. Steve Brooks and Graham Stratford are the first to drive over the treachorous moving ice floes of the Bering Strait which divides America from Russia. After a gruelling nights drive through temperatures as low as -30, amidst enormous moving ice blocks they are now within hours of setting a new world record and realising what for them has been a 5 yr dream. The modified snow machine is capable of moving on both frozen ice and water and has been performing unimaginably well. Russia has denied permission to access it’s mainland at this time. The vehicle can however reach the Russian land mass of Big Diomedes which would prove their expedition a huge success, showing that it is possible to drive from America to Russia.
